Less repetitive writing, more efficient reporting

What is AI Ghostwriter for radiology?

AI Ghostwriter is an AI writing assistant for radiology reports. It turns brief notes, dictated observations or existing text into a coherent draft with examination, indication, findings and impression. Instead of constructing every sentence yourself, you start with a report that is already written out.

Its strength is the combination: your current findings, personal reporting preferences, relevant reference examples and flexible structural templates work together. That makes Ghostwriter a tool for the actual radiology reporting workflow, rather than just another general-purpose AI text box.

Who benefits most from Ghostwriter?

Ghostwriter is especially useful for radiologists who regularly write MRI and CT reports and would rather spend their time interpreting images than repeating familiar wording. It is also attractive if you want a more consistent personal style, work across languages or need an efficient way to revise existing reports.

You can start with a straightforward browser workflow at an individual workstation, in a practice or in a hospital setting. Where RadPlus is connected, the same text assistance can also become part of an established reporting process.

How is AI report generation different from ordinary dictation?

Conventional speech recognition writes down what you say. Ghostwriter goes further: it can organize the information, formulate sentences and produce a structured report draft. You do not necessarily need to dictate the finished report word for word before the system can help.

This is particularly useful when the medical message is clear but the wording still needs work. Focus on the relevant findings and let Ghostwriter assist with the writing. Voice input and AI drafting can therefore complement each other rather than being competing alternatives.

How does Ghostwriter help save time?

Ghostwriter reduces the writing work between an observed finding and a finished report: composing sentences, sorting details, building sections and repeating familiar phrases. Instead of starting from a blank page, you work with a coherent draft. This makes report preparation more efficient and takes repetitive text work off your hands.

The best way to see your own time benefit is to compare typical examinations. Try a routine report, a trauma case and a follow-up, measuring the complete process from entering the information to finishing the text. You will see which parts of your workflow become easier.

From brief notes to a written report

How do I create my first report with Ghostwriter?

Enter the examination, clinical question and your main findings, choose the report language and generate the draft. A concise starting point might describe a right knee MRI after a twisting injury, a medial meniscal lesion and a small joint effusion. Ghostwriter handles the written formulation.

Add important details such as laterality, location, measurements and comparison dates directly to the input. You can then refine the draft as needed. The workflow is simple: provide the medical information, generate the text, review it and use the finished version.

Can Ghostwriter work from bullet points and short notes?

Yes—this is one of the main conveniences. You do not have to prepare complete sentences or a perfectly organized text first. Ghostwriter can connect concise, meaningful notes into a readable report draft and arrange the details in the appropriate sections.

A useful input combines the examination, indication and specific observations rather than requiring a long narrative. The more concrete the information, the more focused the wording can be. Include relevant normal findings and important negative findings as part of those notes.

How does dictation with live text and second-pass refinement work?

Speak your findings and see the recognized text appear live in the input field while you dictate. You can follow the current wording without waiting until the entire recording is finished. This supports a fluid workflow between reviewing images, speaking your observations and preparing the report.

With second-pass refinement enabled, each spoken segment is subsequently reviewed in a separate pass. This context-oriented processing is tailored to radiological language and terminology, and the revised version is incorporated into the text. You combine immediate visual feedback with an additional language-focused refinement before generating the report from your findings.

Can I capture another AI tool's results directly from the screen?

Yes. Select the relevant area of your screen and use its content as input for the report. This is especially convenient when an analysis tool displays its results clearly but offers no suitable direct connection for transferring them into text. Instead of typing values one by one, select the area you need.

Examples include measurements from a cardiac function analysis or the results of a prostate assessment. Combine the captured information with your own observations and incorporate it into the report draft. Select only the relevant results without patient identifiers, and check the transferred numbers and units. The existing analysis becomes part of a connected reporting workflow.

Can Ghostwriter make follow-up reporting easier?

Yes. You can provide the previous report together with current observations as the basis for a follow-up. Ghostwriter helps express stability, regression or progression in a coherent report. This reduces the need to manually rewrite long passages from previous examinations.

Describe interval changes clearly and distinguish current measurements from earlier values. For recurring oncology follow-ups and comparable examinations, this approach combines the existing context with an efficient update of the text, rather than treating every report as an entirely new writing task.

Is the finished report already clearly formatted?

Yes. Ghostwriter produces more than an unstructured block of text: the draft has recognizable sections for examination, indication, findings and impression. Depending on the chosen style or template, it can also use appropriate paragraphs, subheadings and an organized impression. This makes the report easier to read and develop from the outset.

You spend less time manually building the text structure. Important statements are easier to find, while the presentation can follow your preferred reporting style. The relevant copy and integration functions let you carry the finished text into the next stage of your workflow.

Does Ghostwriter also provide an ICD diagnosis code?

Yes. Report generation is designed to include an appropriate ICD-10 code for the main diagnosis at the end of the impression, with the diagnosis description and, where applicable, a diagnostic qualifier. The report and coding suggestion are available in the same workflow instead of always requiring a separate code search.

This is especially useful for recurring findings and transfer to connected systems. Review the suggested code alongside the impression and use it according to the actual diagnostic context and your institution's coding requirements.

Your reporting style, not generic text

Can Ghostwriter adapt to my personal reporting style?

Yes. Your saved example reports and style preferences help Ghostwriter align wording, level of detail and organization with the way you like to report. The draft can feel closer to your own reporting language instead of a generic response from an unrelated AI chat.

If you prefer concise impressions, a particular anatomical sequence or specific terminology, suitable reference reports can support that approach. A well-maintained personal report library provides a useful basis for more consistent drafts across the examinations you encounter regularly.

Do I need to build a large report library before starting?

No. New accounts receive starter example reports to provide a useful foundation. You can get to know Ghostwriter without first assembling a substantial archive of your own. Add your own examples as you identify reports that best demonstrate your style and frequently performed examinations.

This keeps getting started manageable: begin with the existing references and expand the collection as needed. A selection of good, relevant examples is often more useful for your day-to-day work than a large, unsorted set of very different texts.

How do intelligent structural templates help in daily reporting?

Structural templates give your reports a familiar organization: appropriate headings, a useful section sequence and the anatomical order you prefer within the text. For a knee MRI, for example, menisci, ligaments, cartilage and other joint structures can be addressed in your chosen sequence.

The template remains flexible. A diagnostically important finding may justify a different order. The structure provides guidance while the current information determines the content, combining a recognizable reporting pattern with room for the individual case.

Can Ghostwriter find relevant templates for different examinations?

Ghostwriter uses examination and indication classification to select suitable references from your collection. A knee MRI after trauma calls for different examples from an abdominal examination for inflammation or a thoracic tumor follow-up. Anatomy, modality and clinical topic help make that distinction.

The benefit is a more relevant starting point rather than the same general pattern for every case. Well-classified examples and structural templates help bring the draft closer to your usual reporting format and reduce the amount of reorganization needed afterwards.

Can I save a useful report structure as a template?

Yes. If a report has a particularly useful organization, mark it for saving with an explicit instruction containing Textbaustein, for example the German instruction Folgenden Text als Textbaustein speichern. Put this in the generation request; you do not need to wait for later RadPlus report sign-off.

This lets you reuse a successful structure for suitable future examinations. The goal is to preserve layout and topic order, not a fixed set of patient findings. Use the complete marker Textbaustein; the ambiguous abbreviation TB is not used as a trigger.

Multiple languages, one familiar workflow

Which languages does Ghostwriter support?

Ghostwriter supports multiple report languages, including German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Arabic and Chinese. This opens up practical options for international collaboration, reports for recipients who use another language and work across different professional language environments.

The interface is available in German and English, independently of the report language. You can work in a familiar interface while producing a report in another language, without having to change your entire reporting routine.

Can the input and the final report be in different languages?

Yes. You can enter your observations in one language and generate the report in another. German findings, for example, can provide the basis for an English report. Translation can therefore be combined with the report-writing step instead of becoming a separate manual task.

This is particularly useful for international communication. Select the output language for the recipient while keeping the input language you prefer. As with any finished report, review the medical terminology and final clinical meaning before using the text.

Is AI support available in both English and German?

Yes. The AI support sheet follows your interface language: English for an English interface and German for a German interface. You receive not only translated navigation but also case-related explanations in the language that fits your working environment.

The report language and support language remain separate choices. You can, for example, prepare an English report while continuing to work through the case in German. The interface, report and supplementary information can therefore support your personal way of working.

Beyond drafting: AI support and RadPlus

What additional value does the AI support sheet offer?

The AI support sheet is an organized, case-related working reference alongside your report. It brings together information and checks that might otherwise require switching between a reference book, classification table, literature source and a separate AI conversation. The existing report already supplies the context.

The support goes well beyond a general comment. It covers the following areas:

  • Report review: Suggestions about completeness, terminology, contradictions and possible improvements to the current report.
  • Key features and checklist: Relevant imaging and diagnostic criteria, with specific checks such as location, laterality, measurements and comparison examinations.
  • Pitfalls: Common confusions, easily missed findings and aspects that deserve particular attention in the case.
  • Differential diagnoses: Likely, less likely and rare but important alternatives, with reasoning based on the described findings.
  • Classification and staging: Relevant systems applied to the case, such as PI-RADS, Bosniak, BI-RADS or TNM; missing information needed for a complete classification can be identified.
  • Pathological background: Concise explanations of disease mechanisms, natural history and the relevant anatomical context.
  • Further management: Case-related considerations for additional diagnostics, follow-up examinations or clinical assessment.
  • Literature and guidelines: Relevant source suggestions, with direct links to original publications or professional societies where available.
  • Confidence assessment: An indication of confidence in the AI assessment and limitations, such as information missing for a well-supported interpretation.

Can I ask follow-up questions about the case?

Yes. The question field below the support sheet is intended for follow-up questions about the current case. You could ask which classification might apply, which differential diagnoses fit the described features or what additional information would help place a finding in context.

This turns a one-off output into an opportunity to develop the case further. Continue directly from the report, clarify individual details and incorporate useful information into the text. The questions remain focused on the actual examination topic.

Can I finish the report even if some clinical details still need clarification?

Yes. This is why the report, support sheet and follow-up questions work together. Begin with a draft, clarify a classification, differential diagnosis or the significance of a feature, and then revise the report. The clinical question stays connected to the actual case.

Many everyday reference and follow-up questions can be handled within Ghostwriter, often without opening another AI chat or running several parallel searches. This helps you work towards the finished report. When an important statement needs checking against the original source, the references offer a focused starting point for more detailed research.

How does RadPlus integration make the workflow easier?

With RadPlus configured, API-generated reports can be developed further in the web interface and supplemented with AI support. The current report is available in the input area, and the linked-case label keeps the context clear. Generation, revision and follow-up questions can become part of one connected process.

The function for making a revision available to RadPlus stores the updated text under the same report ID. A later authenticated RadPlus request with that ID can retrieve the saved revision. It is returned when requested, rather than automatically pushed into the RIS as you type.

Can I use Ghostwriter without connecting my RIS?

Yes. The web interface works independently. You can enter findings, generate reports and revise text without first connecting your radiology information system. This makes it straightforward to explore Ghostwriter with typical cases at your own workstation.

If you later want an integration, the administrator can clarify the supported connection and setup. The browser workflow and RadPlus integration are different ways to fit the writing assistance into your working day, rather than requiring a large integration project before you can begin.

What role do modern AI models play in Ghostwriter?

Ghostwriter brings modern language and AI functions into a workflow focused on radiological writing. Different tasks call for different strengths: fast capture, relevant classification, clear wording or more detailed clinical support. The aim is for these steps to work together usefully in your reporting day.

Providers such as OpenAI or Anthropic are familiar examples from the AI market. For daily reporting, however, the focus is not a particular model name but how the functions work together: capturing speech, organizing information, drafting text and exploring open questions in the context of the case.

Try it for yourself and stay in control

Do I stay in control of the finished report?

Yes. You provide the medical direction and decide on the final wording. Ghostwriter handles the writing work, while image interpretation, clinical assessment and approval remain with you. The workflow described here generates text from your information rather than performing autonomous image diagnosis.

As with any report, check laterality, measurements, completeness and the impression. AI-generated text and support answers can contain errors. The benefit remains: you review and refine an existing draft instead of having to formulate every sentence yourself.

Can I refine a draft to say exactly what I want?

Yes. Edit the text directly or add information to the input and generate another version. You can ask for a more precise description of a location, a shorter impression or greater emphasis on an interval change. Specific instructions make the revision purposeful.

Suitable settings and reference reports can also help develop the style and organization over time. The draft is not a fixed result: it is a useful starting point that you can bring closer to your intended message with focused adjustments.

How do active filters help protect identifiable patient information?

Ghostwriter supports data protection through active checks, not just a notice. Detected personal information can be highlighted; when information is identified as patient-identifying, report generation is stopped and removal is requested. This adds a practical protective step to the everyday reporting workflow.

Work with the relevant medical content rather than names, dates of birth or patient numbers. Also select screen captures without patient identifiers. The filters support a privacy-conscious workflow, but do not guarantee detection of every identifier or establish legal compliance for your entire use on their own. The current privacy policy and your institution's requirements complement the technical safeguards.

Which cases show the benefits most clearly?

Choose a few typical fictional cases from your daily work: a simple routine report, a case with several separate findings and a follow-up. You can see how Ghostwriter expands brief input, organizes more detailed information and incorporates previous-report context into the writing process.

Also try your preferred reporting style and a second report language. Look at the complete task, not just the first output: how much wording do you still need to write, how well does the structure fit, and which steps become easier before the report is finished?

A straightforward start

Do I need to install software or buy special hardware?

For the web application, you need a browser and an internet connection. You do not need to install your own AI model or provide specialist AI hardware. Once signed in, you can start with text input and report generation.

Voice input also requires a suitable microphone and the relevant browser permissions. Additional local setup may be needed for a particular integration, but not for the basic browser workflow. This lets you get to know the application without beginning with a major IT project.

What is the easiest way to get started?

Open the sign-in page and register or sign in with your existing account. For email registration, confirm your address. Then choose your language and explore the settings and starter example reports.

Begin with a fictional case whose intended report you can assess confidently. Try concise notes, your own wording preferences and, if useful, another report language. This gives you a practical impression of the application rather than asking you to judge it from a product description alone.

What does Ghostwriter cost, and where can I see my credits?

The conditions that apply to you are shown in your account and before a purchase. Check the available offers and the associated report credits there. Registration codes or arrangements for an organization may also be taken into account.

To assess the value, look at your actual working day: how often would you use it, how much writing work does it remove, and how useful are style templates, multilingual reporting and support? That lets you evaluate Ghostwriter against your own reporting process.
